Small Quake Shakes Southern California

Monday, June 27, 2005

YUCAIPA, Calif. —  A small earthquake jolted San Bernardino County (search) on Monday, but there were no immediate reports of damage, authorities said.

The 4.0-magnitude temblor hit about 2 miles northeast of Yucaipa at 3:17 p.m.

"We felt it, but it felt very mild," said Yucaipa (search) sheriff's clerk Robin Fifer. "No reports of any damage."

The quake, centered about 75 miles east of Los Angeles, was the latest in a series that have rattled California in the last month.
