Jacko Ex-Wife Praises Verdicts

Monday, June 13, 2005

SANTA MARIA, Calif. —  One of Michael Jackson's former wives is praising today's innocent verdicts in the singer's child molestation trial.

In a statement to "Entertainment Tonight," Debbie Rowe (search) says, "I would never have married a pedophile. And, the system works."

Rowe had been a nurse for one of Jackson's plastic surgeons when they married in 1996. They had two children: Prince Michael and a daughter named Paris. The couple filed for divorce after three years of marriage.

Rowe was called during the trial as a prosecution witness, but her testimony ended up benefitting the defense as she described Jackson as a victim of money-hungry charlatans.
