David Boreanaz (search), who became famous as the blood-sucking vampire with a good heart on "Angel (search)," will play a crime-busting FBI guy on FOX's new drama "Bones (search)."

On the show — inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and mystery writer Kathy Reichs — a scientist (Emily Deschanel) has an uncanny ability to find clues left on the bones of murder victims.

She is called to assist on cases where the bodies are badly decomposed, burned or destroyed.

"Angel" became a cult hit for the WB and was canceled last year — much to the chagrin of its die-hard fans, who launched a big-bucks campaign to save the show.
