Patrol Problem: Breakdown or Shakedown?

Monday, May 16, 2005

According to a published report in Friday's Washington Times, U.S. Border Patrol (search) agents have been ordered not to arrest illegal aliens along the section of the Arizona border where protesters patrolled last month because an increase in apprehensions there would prove the effectiveness of Minuteman volunteers.

Homeland Security sources tell FOX News that the allegations that agents avoided arrests is "completely false." They don't know what's driving the story, but no orders came from Washington.

This really makes the U.S. Government look bad and will result in more volunteers for the Minutemen.

Never underestimate the creativity or energy level of bureaucrats when it comes to defending their jobs.

The Border Patrol has been playing games like you are now describing for years. They will say that a sector has been secured, then tell agents to not catch anyone on the checkpoints or it will disprove what has been said by the chief of that sector.

The gov't doesn't want the Minutemen to succeed with their simplistic plan. I haven't a clue what their problem is?

We believe border control is trying to sink the great efforts of the Minutemen! It's ridiculous!

I believe the time has come to place the Border Patrol under the authority of the military and fire all current managers and administrators. We are at war, but these guys, or for that matter many in Washington, don't seem to realize it.

Why is the president supporting the open border, and why does the country stand aside while this happens? I suppose this is Washington politics, but it is wrong, and bad for Mexico and the USA.

No one likes to be told they are doing an inadequate job. Not my friends at FOX, or the folks "guarding" the border ... the real breakdown on boarder security is with the jack-asses in Washington.
