Iraq Bombs Kill Two U.S. GIs

BAGHDAD, Iraq  —  Two American soldiers died in roadside bomb attacks by insurgents in Baghdad (search), the U.S. military said Wednesday.

The two separate attacks on U.S. convoys in the capital occurred Tuesday, and further information was being withheld pending notification of the victims' relatives.

As of Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at least 1,585 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

At least 1,211 died as a result of hostile action, according to the Defense Department (search). The figures include four military civilians.
