Cops: Man Kills Grandma, Abducts Kids

Tuesday, March 01, 2005

ALPHA, Fla. —  The Calhoun County (search) sheriff's office says a man in the Florida Panhandle murdered his grandmother and may have abducted his 12-year-old uncle and a teen girl.

The sheriff's office has issued an amber alert for 12-year-old Jonathan Sampson (search) and 17-year-old Loretta Swearingin (search). Both children were likely abducted by 19-year-old Edkah Marshall, who may be armed and should be considered dangerous.

Deputies say Marshall may have abducted the children after fatally shooting his grandmother Wednesday.

The sheriff's office says Swearingin has red hair, is 5-feet, 7-inches and weighs 145 pounds.

Marshall is 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

They may be traveling in a 1999 teal Honda Accord with the Florida license plate P-O-3-3-Z-M.

They were abducted from Alpha, which is near the Jackson County line in the Florida Panhandle, about 51 miles west of Tallahassee.
