BANGKOK, Thailand  —  Pop stars from around the world will appear live or contribute taped performances to a Feb. 3 concert sponsored by MTV to support tsunami relief work.

Performers at the MTV Asia Aid (search) benefit, to be held in Bangkok's IMPACT Arena, will include Good Charlotte (search), Kelly Clarkson (search), Hoobastank, Simple Plan, Asha Bhosle, Jay Chou and Tata Young, MTV said Wednesday. Alicia Keys (search) is scheduled to attend.

Jennifer Lopez (search) will contribute a prerecorded performance, while Moby, 50 Cent, Nelly, Ronan Keating, Ricky Martin and Sting will offer taped messages of support.

"MTV Asia Aid will help to maintain the world's attention on the devastation and loss that the tsunami has caused for millions of people," Richard Bridle, deputy regional director of UNICEF (search), said in a statement.

UNICEF will be the primary recipient of funds raised by the event.

MTV Asia Aid will be available free to broadcasters globally to raise as much money as possible for UNICEF and local charities, the statement said. Organizers hope to reach an audience of more than 1 billion people.

"The MTV Asia Aid event is about empowering viewers everywhere to continue supporting the relief efforts," said Frank Brown, president of MTV Networks Asia Pacific.
