Saddam Trial Evidence May Have Been Stolen

CAIRO, Egypt — The watchdog group Human Rights Watch (search) says Saddam Hussein's trial may be affected by the failure of U.S.-led forces to safeguard documents and the mass graves of his regime's victims.
In a report, the organization says coalition forces failed to stop people from stealing thousands of documents from the state archives that might've provided evidence against the Iraqi dictator.
Likewise, the report says, troops failed to stop people who were searching for relatives' remains from damaging some of the country's 250 mass grave sites.
Eleven top officials from Saddam's regime also face trial.
The Pentagon says it hasn't yet reviewed the report.
