Georgia: Democrat Jim Marshall Wins Re-election

Wednesday, November 03, 2004

Democratic congressman Jim Marshall won re-election in Georgia's 3rd district by a comfortable margin Tuesday, but first-term Rep. Max Burns lost the 12th district to Democrat challenger John Barrow.

Marshall was in a rematch against Republican Calder Clay, who lost to Marshall in 2002 by just one percent of the vote. This time, Marshall took about 60 percent of the vote.

Burns, however, was considered one of the most vulnerable Republicans in the House and had struggled to defend his seat.
