Curses Can Be Broken

Thursday, October 21, 2004

Switching to something a tad less controversial, actually, maybe more so, depending on your loyalties -- the Boston Red Sox (search).

I don't like them. I don't even know why I don't like them. It's not as if I’m some baseball expert. I'm not. And it's not just because I’m from New York. Even when I lived in New England, I didn't like them.

But I do admire them. And I think we all should.

How many times did the experts say the Sox were done? Finished? That the odds of coming back from a three-to-none game deficit were too daunting?

The Sox just kept plugging. One inning at a time. Then, a game at a time. Then, suddenly it was their time. And it was the Yankees (search) left with no time.

So the next time you look at that massive inbox at work, think the Red Sox.

Or fret over that seemingly impossible assignment that can't remotely get done when your boss wants it done, think the Red Sox.

Curses can be broken. The unbelievable "can" happen.

Don't believe me. Just ask the Yankees.

Boy, did it kill me to say that.
