Car Bomb Explodes in Mosul

MOSUL, Iraq — A car bomb exploded Monday in western Mosul (search) as an American military convoy was passing by, witnesses said. First reports indicated it may have been a homicide attack.
Witnesses said U.S. forces cordoned off the area soon after the attack.
It was unclear if there were U.S. casualties.
Car bombs have been used with increasing frequency by insurgents battling American forces and their Iraqi allies.
