Dane Reported Missing in Iraq Found Dead

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — A Danish man, who had been missing in Iraq for more than a week and who was believed to have been abducted, has been found dead, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
The ministry said it was notified about the missing Dane late Tuesday night by the U.S.-led Coalition Provisional Authority (search).
The missing man was said to have been in his 30s but has not been otherwise identified. He as found dead on April 12 by Iraqi police, the ministry said it was told.
No details about how he died or where was found were immediately available. He was reported missing April 11.
The man's family has been informed, the Foreign Ministry said.
The tabloid Ekstra Bladet (search) newspaper said the man was Henrik Frandsen, a 35-year-old plumber from Copenhagen. He became the second Dane to die in Iraq.
A Danish soldier, Cpl. Preben Pedersen, was killed in Iraq Aug. 16, 2003, the victim of friendly fire while on patrol.
Denmark, which backed the U.S.-led war to oust Saddam Hussein (search), has 410 troops in Basra and nearby Qurnah, 250 miles southeast of Baghdad.
