Suspicious Truck Prompts Road Closure Near Pentagon

Thursday, October 30, 2003

WASHINGTON —  Authorities briefly closed roads and a bus stop near the Pentagon (search) Thursday while they investigated a suspicious truck parked nearby, a Pentagon spokesman said.

Police noticed the "U-Haul-type" truck parked under an Interstate 395 overpass at about 12:45 p.m. EST, said Pentagon spokesman Glenn Flood.

The truck was on an access road near a Pentagon parking lot, Flood said. The truck was removed and the roads were reopened.

During the initial investigation, subway trains passed through a Pentagon transit station without stopping.
