Peterson Preliminary Hearing Delayed

Friday, October 17, 2003

MODESTO, Calif. —  The preliminary hearing for accused wife-killer Scott Peterson (search) has been delayed again and now is set to take place on Oct. 28.

Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Al Girolami (search) agreed to postpone the hearing by a week because Peterson’s chief defense attorney, Mark Geragos (search), was still involved with an unrelated murder trial in Los Angeles.

Peterson, a 30-year-old salesman, is accused of killing his wife, Laci, and unborn son last December.

Laci Peterson (search) disappeared from her Modesto home on Christmas Eve. Months later, her body and that of her son, Connor, washed ashore from San Francisco Bay.

During a hearing on Friday, Peterson agreed to allow the extension for the preliminary hearing. "Yeah, a 28th hearing is appropriate," he said from the defense table.
