Serena wins Swedish Open

Bastad, Sweden (Sports Network) - Serena Williams brushed off a stunning fourth-round loss at Wimbledon by winning the Swedish Open.

The top-seeded Williams defeated No. 8 seed Johanna Larsson of Sweden by a 6-4, 6-1 margin to improve to 28-0 on clay this year and 51-3 overall in 2013.

The American star has now won seven tournaments in 2013, including the French Open. It was her 53rd career title.

Larsson fell to 0-3 in finals. She was the 2011 Bastad runner-up and was also a finalist in Portoroz three years ago.

The 16-time Grand Slam champion Williams took home $40,000 with the victory.
