Auckland, New Zealand (Sports Network) - Saturday's ASB Classic final between Italy's Flavia Pennetta and China's Zheng Jie has been postponed due to rain.
The decision was made by event organizers to move the event to Sunday. Should rain persist on Sunday, the final will be played indoors.
The fourth-seeded, 29-year-old Pennetta, ranked 20th in the world, will appear in her 21st career WTA final and is seeking a 10th title and her first championship since 2010. The 28-year-old Zheng is 3-2 in career finals and is seeking her first title since 2006.
Pennetta and Zheng will meet for a sixth time, with the Italian leading the lifetime series 3-2.
The winner of this $220,000 Australian Open tuneup will claim $37,000.
