Newport, RI (Sports Network) - Top-seeded John Isner earned a straight-set victory over sixth-seeded Belgian Olivier Rochus on Sunday to win the $500,000 Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.
Isner beat Rochus, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) to claim his second ATP singles title and first since Auckland last year. Isner, who is 6-foot-9, and the 5-foot-6 Rochus made up the greatest height differential in an ATP final.
The 26-year-old Isner became the third consecutive American to win this event. Rajeev Ram topped countryman Sam Querrey in 2009 and Rochus was defeated by Mardy Fish in last year's final.
Rochus, 30, has not won a title since Munich in 2006.
