Dusseldorf, Germany (Sports Network) - Germany's doubles team of Philipp Kohlschreiber and Philipp Petzschner topped the Argentine duo of Juan Ignacio Chela and Maximo Gonzalez to give the host nation the title at the World Team Cup.
After the two nations split Saturday's singles matches, with Germany's Florian Mayer beating Juan Monaco in the opener and Chela topping Kohlschreiber in the second, Petzschner and Kohlschreiber claimed a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win in the decisive doubles match.
Germany notched its fifth title in the French Open tuneup and denied Argentina a second straight championship. The Argentines beat the United States in last year's final for their fourth World Team Cup crown.
The best-of-three final started with Mayer taking a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 win over Monaco, but Argentina tied it when Chela produced a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win.
