Soderling fights off Cilic for Marseille title

Marseille, France (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Swede Robin Soderling continued his torrid start to the year, rallying to beat Croat Marin Cilic in Sunday's final at the $785,000 Open 13 tennis event.

Soderling battled back after dropping his first set this week to post a 6-7 (8-10), 6-3, 6-3 victory. The fourth-ranked player in the world fired 12 aces and broke Cilic's serve five times.

The reigning two-time French Open runner-up, Soderling captured his third championship in 2011 while upping his record to 17-1, with his lone setback this year coming to Alexandr Dolgopolov in the fourth round of the Australian Open.

"It's of course a very nice feeling. Winning three tournaments in four tries is something I've never been close to before," Soderling said. "It's a great start and I really hope it can continue this way."

Soderling, who improved to 9-10 in career finals, defended his title in Rotterdam last week and also won in Brisbane.
