Description: The Calgary Flames have traded Daymond Langkow to the Phoenix Coyotes for Lee Stempniak. TSN
Insight: The Flames had too many centers, so they were able to trade a center for a winger. Likewise, Phoenix seems to need help with scoring, particularly at the center position. Langkow played in just the last four games with the Flames last season after suffering a neck injury the previous season.

Description: Daymond Langkow is expected to return to the Flames' lineup on Friday against St. Louis. TSN
Insight: Langkow suffered a broken bone in his neck late last season after taking a shot from then-teammate Ian White there. It is nice to see him return after being sidelined for one full year, but fantasy owners should not expect immediate results.

Description: Langkow has been cleared to resume full practices with his team, about a year after being struck in the neck by a teammate's slapshot.
Insight: A year away from competitive hockey would obviously make Langkow a long shot to contribute anything this season. Simply returning to the ice, however, is a huge step back from what began as a potentially career-threatening injury. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Daymond Langkow has been cleared to return to practice after suffering a broken bone in his neck late last season. TSN
Insight: Langkow still might not return to the Flames' lineup before the regular season ends. However, he might be a possibility if the Flames make the playoffs. In any event, it's good to see that the injury did not end his career.

Description: Daymond Langkow was shut down after experiencing a setback in his recovery from a neck injury. Calgary Sun
Insight: A Flames team official said that it is "50/50" that Langkow's career could be over, while GM Darryl Sutter said that Langkow made "zero progress then a step backwards." Langkow should not be owned in any leagues right now, as he has been experiencing numbness from a spinal cord injury. It's an unfortunate way for a player's career to end.

Description: Daymond Langkow will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time.
Insight: After fracturing his vertebrae, Langkow was hopeful he'd get back to the ice at some point this season. Although it may happen, it's not likely to be soon. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: Daymond Langkow is still being listed as week-to-week with no timetable for his return. Sportsnet
Insight: Langkow suffered a broken bone in his neck in March after taking a shot there. His situation makes him too much of a risk for fantasy leagues. However, his injury status only improves the fantasy value of centers Olli Jokinen and Matt Stajan.

Description: Daymond Langkow has resumed skating for the first time since suffering a fractured vertebrae in March. Calgary Herald
Insight: Langkow was cleared for light skating with no contact or no lifting, so his status is very iffy for the start of training camp. Langkow's injury may explain why the Flames brought back Olli Jokinen after trading him last season.

Description: Daymond Langkow seems to be on the road to recovery from a concussion that ended his 2009-10 season in March. Flames Nation
Insight: Langkow may be ready by the start of training camp, but this is a situation that should continue to be monitored if you are a Langkow owner.
