Description: Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov skated more than 30 minutes Wednesday against Ottawa for the first time this season, as did P.K. Subban. Markov and Subban played a total of 11:37 on the power play Wednesday while Francis Boullin, Josh Gorges and Alexei Emelin combined for less than two. SOURCE: Montreal Gazette
Insight: Markov has been averaging slightly less than 25 minutes per game this season and has played at least 20 in all 27 games. He has one assist in five straight games and a point in eight of his last nine games.

Description: Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov had an assist and four SOG Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.
Insight: Markov had at least 46 points in four straight seasons starting in 2005-06 but he has missed significant time due to injuries over the past three campaigns. He's been healthy so far and has produced five goals, seven assists and 29 SOG in 20 games. All 12 of his points have come on the power play.

1/29/2013 10:46:00 PM
Description: Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov continued his hot start with two assists Tuesday against Winnipeg.
Insight: Markov's play is one of the main factors behind a 4-1 start for Montreal. He has four goals and three assists so far. He has missed significant time the last three seasons but is a must-own while he's healthy.

1/24/2013 9:48:00 PM
Description: Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov already has three goals in three games.
Insight: Markov has played just 20 games combined over the last two seasons but has the ability to be a top fantasy defenseman when healthy. With P.K. Subban still inactive due to a contract dispute, Markov should continue to get plenty of ice time on the top defensive pairing with either Josh Gorges or Alexei Emelin.

Description: Andrei Markov is expected to miss another three weeks because of minor knee surgery. NHL.com
Insight: Markov has not played at all this season after recovering from major knee surgery. His owners will need to continue to be patient, as he will QB the Habs' power play when he returns.

Description: Andrei Markov isn't expected to return to the Canadiens' lineup until at least December. TSN
Insight: Markov was targeting a November return, since he has been skating with the Habs. However, the waiting game continues for those who took a chance on Markov.

Description: Andrei Markov is about a week or two away from practicing with the Canadiens, according to coach Jacques Martin. TSN
Insight: Markov will need to skate on his own first as he continues his ACL rehab. Fantasy teams that have stored him on the bench or IR will need to assume that he is at least another few weeks from returning.

10/18/2011 2:43:00 PM
Description: According to Canadiens coach Jacques Martin, Andrei Markov will not return to the lineup during October. TSN
Insight: Fantasy owners will need to keep Markov benched or on IR for at least another two weeks. His rehab is said to be on schedule, although there doesn't seem to be a timetable for Markov's return.

9/15/2011 3:16:00 PM
Description: According to the TEAM 990 radio in Montreal, Andrei Markov recently had water drained from his injured knee as a result of swellling. CBC Sports
Insight: Canadiens management seemed to downplay the report, saying that they "hope" that Markov will be ready to start the season. Fantasy owners should still consider him an injury risk, as it appears his knee may not be 100 percent even if he is given the green light to participate fully in training camp.

6/23/2011 9:57:00 PM
Description: The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed defenseman Andrei Markov to a three-year contract worth $17.25 million. TSN
Insight: Markov has been an elite fantasy hockey defenseman, but a rash of injuries over the past two seasons has limited his production. He was held to just seven games last season because of a knee injury, so he carries considerable injury risk to both the Habs and to fantasy owners that draft him.

12/3/2010 8:59:00 PM
Description: The Montreal Canadiens have announced that Andrei Markov will undergo knee surgery and miss the rest of the season. TSN
Insight: Not exactly a surprise, since the Habs and Markov were doing everything they could to avoid surgery. Markov will undergo surgery to repair his meniscus and repair his ACL. The high-scoring defenseman is in the final year of his contract, so he may have played his last game as a Canadien.

11/24/2010 3:26:00 PM
Description: Further assessment will be needed to determine the severity of Andrei Markov's knee injury. TSN
Insight: Estimates of Markov's time out of the lineup range anywhere from three to six months. However, the Habs are hoping that he can return before the end of the season. Fantasy owners should assume that this is a long-term injury and should act accordingly.

11/19/2010 3:48:00 PM
Description: Andrei Markov will see a doctor in Cleveland on Tuesday about his injured knee. TSN
Insight: Markov is looking into the possibility of postponing surgery and playing again this season. This choice sounds risky, but Markov seems to be looking for a second opinion who will suggest that he won't have to call it a season. Continue to keep him on your bench until all the facts are known.

11/17/2010 1:21:00 AM
Description: The Montreal Canadiens have confirmed that Andrei Markov will be sidelined long-term with a knee injury. TSN
Insight: Reports have suggested that Markov would be out as long as six months, although the Canadiens have not confirmed any timetable for his return. Continue to hang onto Markov if possible, but there's a chance that he may not return at all this season.

11/15/2010 4:07:00 PM
Description: The Montreal Canadiens have stated that Andrei Markov will undergo further tests to determine the exact nature of his lower-body injury. Montreal Gazette
Insight: Markov left Saturday's game against Carolina after colliding with Eric Staal, and he was widely speculated to have re-injured his surgically repaired knee. How long he will be sidelined is not yet known, but what is known is that Markov will miss Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.

11/14/2010 4:31:00 PM
Description: According to the Montreal Gazette, Andrei Markov may be out of the lineup for up to three months. TSN
Insight: It looks like Markov suffered an injury to his surgically repaired right knee, although the Canadiens have not confirmed this information. Either way, it looks like Markov will miss even more time due to injury. P.K. Subban's fantasy value should increase significantly, as he should see a ton of power-play time while Markov is sidelined.

11/14/2010 2:25:00 AM
Description: Andrei Markov left Saturday's game against Carolina with a right leg injury. TSN
Insight: Markov injured his leg in a collision with Eric Staal in the third period. He appeared to re-injure the knee that underwent surgery during the second round of the playoffs. Markov has had awful luck with injuries the past two seasons, as he played in just 45 games last season and missed the first month of this season. Fantasy owners may have to wait a few days before they find out how long Markov will be out.

10/30/2010 2:15:00 PM
Description: The Montreal Canadians are expecting to get a huge boost in their lineup Saturday night as Andrei Markov is pegged to make his season debut. CBC
Insight: Markov has been out since the 2nd round of last year's playoffs after hurting a knee that required off-season surgery to repair. This will be a huge lift for the Habs as Markov is their best offensive defenseman and power play quarterback, not to mention one of the top point producing defensemen in the league. If he has been sitting on your bench until now, make sure to get him out there.
