Description: Red Wings left wing Justin Abdelkader has been handed a two-game suspension for his hit on Anaheim forward Toni Lydman Saturday night in Game 3. SOURCE: Ansar Khan, MLive.com
Insight: The Ducks have a chance to eliminate Detroit in Game 5 so it's possible that Abdelkader has played his final game of the season. Danny Cleary is expected to replace Abdelkader on the first line Monday in Game 4.

Description: Detroit left wing Justin Abdelkader scored twice Saturday in a 5-2 win over Vancouver.
Insight: Abdelkader (three goals, one assist in 29 games) has had a quiet season thus far and we wouldn't expect many games like this going forward. It's worth noting that the Red Wings have done extremely well against the Canucks this season, averaging 6.5 goals per game in their two meetings in 2013.

Description: Justin Abdelkader scored two goals with a +2 in the Red Wings' 4-3 overtime win over Nashville on Saturday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Nashville scored the first three goals of the game before Detroit scored four unanswered goals. Abdelkader has seven goals this season and had not scored a point in his previous eight games, so he probably isn't being given a lot of fantasy consideration.

Description: Justin Abdelkader took boxing lessons in the offseason.
Insight: Facing a battle for the fourth line center position, Abdelkader took boxing lessons over the summer to learn how to handle himself in defensive battles. The preparation won't hurt his chances of making the team, but it won't translate into fantasy value either. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed forward Justin Abdelkader to a two-year contract. TSN
Insight: Abdelkader scored six points in 50 games for the Red Wings last season, although he finished third on the Wings with 152 hits. He will be hard-pressed to earn a role on one of the scoring lines for the Wings again this season.
