NHL Game Summary - St. Louis at Anaheim
(Sunday, October 16th)
Final Score: Anaheim 4, St. Louis 2
Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Bobby Ryan scored twice and added an assist on Francois Beauchemin's tally, which ignited a string of three straight third- period goals that lifted the Ducks over the Blues, 4-2.
Corey Perry's power play goal proved to be the game-winner in Anaheim's third straight win. Jonas Hiller, coming off his 12th career shutout on Friday, stopped 28 shots for the victors.
"Points get harder to come by later in the year. To hit your stride early and to really have all four lines contributing is a huge thing," Ryan said.
Patrik Berglund and Alexander Steen scored for St. Louis, which received 19 saves from Jaroslav Halak.
Beauchemin's slap shot deflected off a defender in front to give Anaheim a 2-1 lead just 1:31 into the third.
Just 28 seconds later, Blues forward Matt D'Agostini was penalized for tripping, and Perry padded the lead by re-directing Teemu Selanne's shot from the left circle into the back of the net.
Ryan Getzlaf sprung Ryan on a 1-on-2 chance a little later, and Ryan split the defenders before trickling one under Halak's pads at 6:24.
"I think we played a good 40 minutes. Then in the third period...It seemed like they took over and they scored two more goals. It was too late for us to start playing again and we just have to learn from it," Halak said.
Steen's bad-angle shot from the right side near the midway point capped the scoring.
Ryan scored off a long rebound immediately after a power play chance expired 2:20 into the game, and Berglund tipped in Alex Pietrangelo's point shot to even the score at 5:43 of the second.
