Damien Brunner and Eric Gelinas lit the lamp for New Jersey, which lost an 18th straight shootout, extending its NHL record. The Devils remain winless at home and have dropped four in a row after opening the season with three straight wins. Cory Schneider finished with 35 saves, but failed to stop Jason Spezza or Benn in the tiebreaker.

Ondrej Palat notched a score and a helper, while Steven Stamkos and Vladislav Namestnikov also tallied for the Lightning, who improved to 3-1-0 on a five-game road trip that ends in Minnesota on Saturday. Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler each scored once for the Jets, who stumbled to their fifth loss in six games. Tobias Enstrom picked up two assists but Ondrej Pavelec surrendered all four goals on just 18 shots through two periods in defeat.
