Carolina inks D Gragnani
Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes signed defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani to a one-year, two-way contract on Wednesday.
The contract is worth $800,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 as an AHL deal.
"Marc-Andre was in the NHL all of last season, and will push for a job with us in the fall," vice president of hockey operations Ron Francis said. "He has good size and has shown the ability to produce offensively both in the AHL and the NHL."
The 25-year-old Gragnani was traded from the Buffalo Sabres to the Vancouver Canucks at the trade deadline last season with forward Zack Kassian for forward Cody Hodgson and defenseman Alexander Sulzer. Between the two teams, he scored twice and had 13 assists in 58 games.
In 73 games with Buffalo and Vancouver, the 6'2, 201-pound defenseman has three goals, 15 assists and a plus-six rating in his career.
