Description: San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick threw for 263 yards and one touchdown as the 49ers were demolished by the Broncos.
Insight: Kaepernick had a sure touchdown dropped by Anquan Boldin, but he did about as good as he could, considering the Denver pass rush overwhelmed the 49ers offensive line.
Hot10/14/2014 12:13:00 AM
Description: San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick threw for 343 yards and three touchdowns as the 49ers came back to beat the Rams 31-17.
Insight: Kaepernick wasn't doing much to please fantasy owners until less than a minute to go in the first half when he hit Brandon Lloyd on an 80-yard bomb. The second half was all Kaepernick and the 343 passing yards was his second-best total of his career.

Description: San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick threw for 218 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the 49ers edged the Eagles.
Insight: Kaepernick also rushed for 58 yards, but San Francisco got back to basics - which means running the ball more than passing it. Expect that to continue as that's been their formula for success.
9/22/2014 10:24:00 AM
Description: San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick didn't turn the ball over as he did against the Bears in Week 2, but still couldn't lead his team to a win.
Insight: Kaepernick threw for 245 yards and a score and rushed for 54 yards, so didn't kill fantasy owners. He was missing a big weapon in Vernon Davis, but Stevie Johnson played well as the 49ers played a lot of three-wide offense.
9/16/2014 10:24:00 AM
Description: San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick was not good in the 49ers home loss to the Chicago Bears Sunday night, throwing for 248 yards and a score, but was picked off three times.
Insight: Two second-half interceptions were particularly damaging. At least he rushed for 66 yards, but even there he coughed up the football for a fourth turnover. He and the 49ers travel to Arizona where he's going to have to be much better against a Cardinals team ranked 10th in yards allowed and fourth in turnovers.

Description: San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick won't be charged in connection with a suspicious incident that took place in Miami earlier this offseason.
Insight: Investigators were unable to find evidence of any wrongdoing on Kaepernick's part. It appears life can go on as usual for Kaepernick, who just signed a six-year extension to become one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

Description: The Niners and quarterback Colin Kaepernick have agreed to a six-year, $126 million extension with $61 million of that guaranteed. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport,
Insight: Accuracy was a bit of an issue for Kaepernick last season (58.4 completion percentage) but he still finished the year with 21 touchdowns and over 3,000 passing yards. He's always been a good runner, averaging six yards per carry on 157 career rushes. With Kaepernick under center, San Francisco should once again be one of the top teams in the NFC.

Description: San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and two other NFL players are being investigated by Miami police about a "suspicious indicent" involving a woman at a hotel earlier this month.
Insight: Miami Police Dept. public information officer Rene Pimentel initially told USA Today Sports that the investigation was for sexual assault but he amended his statement and says that the Special Victims Unit is investigating a "suspicious indicent." "There are no charges, definitely not. There is an investigation," Pimentel said.

Description: Niners QB Colin Kaepernick was one of the best QBs in the NFL last season and now he wants to get paid like it. SOURCE: Boston Globe
Insight: Kaepernick (21 TD, 91.6 QB rating in 2013) says he wants Jay Cutler money, which would pay him roughly $18 million a year. He'll be a free agent in 2015, though if a deal isn't reached, San Francisco could always place the franchise tag on him.

Description: San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick didn't have a ton of success throwing the football Sunday against the Packers (16-for-30, 227 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) but he made up for it by running the ball seven times for 98 yards.
Insight: Kaepernick's longest run of the day came on a 42-yard sprint in the second quarter. With the victory, Kaepernick improved to 3-1 in his career in the postseason.
10/27/2013 6:51:00 PM
Description: Niners QB Colin Kaepernick didn't throw for a lot of yards on Sunday (just 164) but he was still able to reward his fantasy owners by scoring three touchdowns.
Insight: Two of those touchdowns came on the ground. As long as Kaepernick continues to use his legs (294 rushing yards this season), he's going to be a productive fantasy quarterback.
Cold9/22/2013 7:21:00 PM
Description: San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick only completed 13-of-27 for 150 yards with a pick and a lost fumble Sunday against the Colts.
Insight: We could excuse Kaepernick's subpar effort last week at Seattle when the Seahawks fans set a new world record for loudest crowd, but this game was at home against a defense that let Terrelle Pryor and Ryan Tannehill post strong numbers in the last two weeks. The 49ers play again Thursday against the Rams, so Vernon Davis (hamstring) doesn't have much time to get healthy after missing Sunday's game. Given the usual sloppiness that comes with Thursday night games, fantasy owners should consider benching Kaepernick in Week 4.
9/8/2013 7:50:00 PM
Description: Not only did Colin Kaepernick reach 300 yards for the first time in his career Sunday against the Packers, he went off for 412 and three touchdowns.
Insight: Kaepernick gave the Packers nightmares during the playoffs last season with both his arm and legs. He only ran seven times for 22 yards in this one but did more than enough through the air.
1/20/2013 6:44:00 PM
Description: In just his ninth NFL start, 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick threw for 233 yards and a touchdown with zero turnovers in a hostile environment to help San Francisco advance to the Super Bowl.
Insight: Kaepernick completed 16-of-21 passes to bring the 49ers back from 17-0 down to beat the Falcons in Atlanta. It wasn't quite up to the caliber of last week against the Packers but Kaepernick was still impressive Sunday.
1/13/2013 11:21:00 AM
Description: San Francisco made its most extensive use of the "Pistol" formation Saturday, the same offense QB Colin Kaepernick used when he played at Nevada. San Francisco OC Greg Roman said that the 49ers intentionally didn't use the formation at all in Week 17 after barely using it in Week 16 against Seattle to throw opponents off. "We didn't use it against the Cardinals because we wanted people to think we weren't going to use it," said Roman, who admitted that the team used the formation more than 50 percent of the time Saturday in the 49ers' divisional round win over Green Bay. SOURCE: Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports
Insight: Kaepernick torched the Packers in his playoff debut for 263 passing yards, 181 rushing yards and four total touchdowns. The performance put San Francisco in the NFC Championship for the second straight year and validated coach Jim Harbaugh's decision to switch from Alex Smith to Kaepernick midway through the season.

Description: San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick tossed two touchdowns passes as part of a 276-yard day against the Cardinals in Week 17.
Insight: Kaepernick threw for 1,608 yards with 10 touchdowns and three picks and rushed for 238 yards with two touchdowns in the final seven games after taking over starting QB duties in Week 11.
Cold12/3/2012 10:08:00 AM
Description: Niners coach Jim Harbaugh is sticking with Colin Kaepernick as his starter despite the quarterback's uneven performance in Sunday's loss to St. Louis.
Insight: Kaepernick's intentional grounding penalty in the second quarter resulted in a safety and later on he committed a costly fumble that allowed the Rams to tie the game at 10-10. Luckily for Kaepernick, he faces the Dolphins in Week 14 (27th in the NFL in passing defense).
11/28/2012 3:48:00 PM
Description: Coach Jim Harbaugh announced that QB Colin Kaepernick will be the starter for the 49ers in Week 13.
Insight: Kaepernick wasn't nearly as good against New Orleans as he was against the Chicago. As opponents see more of Kaepernick they will likely develop a better defensive game plan. The San Francisco quarterback situation will continue to be a week-to-week proposition.
11/25/2012 7:45:00 PM
Description: San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick beat Drew Brees and the Saints in his second NFL start Sunday. Kaepernick finished 16-of-25 for 231 yards with two touchdowns.
Insight: Kaepernick ran in a score in the first quarter and threw a touchdown to Frank Gore in the third. He was also picked off once but cemented his status as the team's starting quarterback. The 49ers will rematch St. Louis next week -- the teams tied in Week 10 with Kaepernick struggling in relief of a concussed Alex Smith.

Description: It's official. The 49ers will go with Colin Kaepernick at quarterback Sunday against the Saints. SOURCE: Albert Breer, NFL Network
Insight: Kaepernick has an excellent matchup this week against the Saints less than a week after shredding the vaunted Bears on Monday night.
