Description: New York quarterback David Garrard has been activated from the team's exempt list.
Insight: It doesn't mean anything because Geno Smith is still the starter. Brady Quinn was released in the corresponding roster move. Garrard hasn't played an NFL snap since 2010.

10/10/2013 2:36:00 PM
Description: Quarterback David Garrard has come out of retirement to join the Jets.
Insight: Garrard was put on New York's exempt list so he technically isn't on the active roster. With Geno Smith finally beginning to turn things around, Garrard figures only to be a backup when and if he's activated.

5/15/2013 5:11:00 PM
Description: David Garrard has decided to retire due to a lingering knee injury, according to Adam Schein of SNY and NFL.com.
Insight: Garrard hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2010. His retirement means that Mark Sanchez only has to beat out rookie Geno Smith to be the Jets' starting quarterback again.

3/11/2013 9:01:00 PM
Description: Former Jaguars quarterback David Garrard has officially signed with the Jets.
Insight: Garrard hasn't appeared in an NFL game since 2010. Incredibly, he actually has a decent chance to win the starting job over Mark Sanchez. The 35-year-old Garrard has thrown for 89 touchdowns and 16,003 yards over the course of 86 NFL games.

3/2/2013 5:28:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that the Jets are close to finishing a deal with free agent quarterback David Garrard.
Insight: After a one-year absence from the league, Garrard resurfaced with the Dolphins last summer in training camp but injuries prevented him from appearing in any regular season games. Almost anything would be an uprgrade for the Jets at quarterback after the abysmal season Mark Sanchez had under center in 2012 (13 TD, 18 INT, 66.9 QB rating).

9/4/2012 3:20:00 PM
Description: According to Fox Sports Jay Glazer, the Dolphins are going to release quarterback David Garrard. Garrard had just returned from knee surgery and begun to practice.
Insight: Garrard lost his starting spot to rookie Ryan Tannehill and was listed as No. 3 behind Matt Moore as well.

9/3/2012 12:18:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback David Garrard (knee surgery) is back at practice according to Miami beat writer Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post.
Insight: Garrard lost his starting spot to rookie Ryan Tannehill and is listed as No. 3 behind Matt Moore as well. It will take some work for Garrard to see the playing field this season, and even then, with the low quality of receivers at his disposal his fantasy value would be minimal.

8/10/2012 10:08:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback David Garrard will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on Saturday and is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks of action.
Insight: This injury should open the door for Matt Moore, who recently fell behind Garrard on Miami's quarterback depth chart.

8/6/2012 11:38:00 AM
Description: The NFL Netwrok is reporting that Dolphins quarterback David Garrard has been listed as the starter on the team's first official depth chart.
Insight: Incumbent Matt Moore and rookie Ryan Tannehill are Miami's other options at quarterback. Garrard has never been a fantasy star, (he's never thrown for 3,700 yards or more than 23 TDs in a season) and won't be one even if he wins the Miami job, but he could be a bye week option.

8/3/2012 2:29:00 PM
Description: Ben Volin from the Palm Beach Post, says that David Garrard looks to be the clear front-runner at this point, though performances in tomorrow's scrimmage and the first two preseason games will factor a lot into the final decision.

6/29/2012 4:43:00 PM
Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, David Garrard, who signed with the Miami Dolphins this offseason after missing all of last season, is looking like the leader in the Dolphins' quarterback competition during spring practices.
Insight: Incumbent Matt Moore and rookie Ryan Tannehill are Miami's other options at quarterback. Even if Garrard wins the job, he won't be more than a backup outside of two-QB fantasy leagues.

3/20/2012 12:10:00 PM
Description: David Garrard, who was cut by Jacksonville before the start of last season, has signed with the Miami Dolphins
Insight: Miami was running out of options at quarterback with Matt Flynn going to Seattle and Peyton Manning to Denver. Garrard doesn't appear to be the long-term answer so expect the Dolphins to draft a quarterback in April. Garrard will compete with Matt Moore and likely a rookie for the starting job, but for fantasy purposes he doesn't hold much value whether he wins the job or not.

3/19/2012 9:33:00 AM
Description: David Garrard is scheduled to visit the Miami Dolphins on Monday. Garrard, who was cut by Jacksonville before the start of last season, is also likely to meet with the Rams later in the week.
Insight: Miami is running out of options at quarterback now that Matt Flynn is going to Seattle and Peyton Manning has narrowed his choices down to Denver, San Francisco and Tennessee. Alex Smith is still a possibility but he's likely to re-sign with the 49ers if they don't land Manning. If that happens, Garrard could be the next best option. Garrard is an average fantasy quarterback.

10/17/2011 12:36:00 PM
Description: The Raiders have reached out to free agent quarterbacks David Garrard and Josh McCown, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Source: Adam Schefter via Twitter
Insight: This doesn't mean a deal is imminent, and Garrard himself has said he doesn't feel like playing right now. At this point, he's a better option than a Trent Edwards or Kyle Boller and Terrelle Pryor is still too raw, but we wouldn't be surprised to see Pryor out there at some point.

9/6/2011 3:21:00 PM
Description: In an interesting turn of events in Jacksonville, the Jaguars are reportedly releasing veteran QB David Garrard... just five days before the start of the regular season. SOURCE: USA TODAY
Insight: In an interesting turn of events in Jacksonville, the Jaguars are reportedly releasing veteran QB David Garrard... just five days before the start of the regular season. Luke McCown, who is lucky to still be in the league, will now get the start in Week 1 vs. Tennessee. Rookie Blaine Gabbert, who was demoted to third string a few weeks ago, will now resume the main backup role for the time being.

9/6/2011 3:09:00 PM
Description: Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports the Jagaurs are set to release starting QB David Garrard. Source: Jay Glazer via Twitter
Insight: Luke McCown will draw the starting job in week one over Blaine Gabbert. Garrard won't really have any time acclimate himself to a new offense if he's signed to a new team. There are a few teams that could use his services, like Seattle or even Cleveland.

1/4/2011 12:59:00 PM
Description: There is belief that it is a "foregone conclusion" that QB David Garrard will be the Jaguars' starter in 2011. SOURCE: JAGUARS.COM
Insight: With Jack Del Rio back, Garrard will get yet another shot to prove himself that he can lead the team to the playoffs. Garrard did have a career high in touchdown passes with 23, but also threw a career high 15 interceptions. Due $8 million and turning 33 in February, Garrard is running out of time. He is nothing more than a QB2 in 2011.

12/31/2010 11:30:00 AM
Description: Jaguars QB David Garrard (finger surgery) has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Garrard underwent surgery to repair the middle finger on his right hand Thursday. Trent Edwards getting the nod is not good news for the Jaguars, who are still alive for a playoff berth. Garrard's future seems a bit murky after a couple disappointing seasons recently.

12/29/2010 12:50:00 PM
Description: Jaguars QB David Garrard will not play this weekend against the Texans due to expected surgery on his right middle finger Thursday. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: The Jaguars are still mathematically alive for the playoffs, but their fate lies in the arm of Trent Edwards. With Maurice Jones-Drew's (knee) status also questionable, the Jags could be done.

12/27/2010 12:01:00 AM
Description: Garrard tossed two interceptions in the loss to Washington, adding 299 yards, a touchdown pass and a rushing score.
Insight: Overall it was a solid fantasy day, though it could have been worse if Garrard at lost either or both of his two fumbles. His largest yardage numbers tend to come in Jacksonville losses, which makes sense to some degree but also shouldn't be the case SO often. (RapidDraft.com)
