Description: Former Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil has signed with the Baltimore Ravens, according to the Denver Post. Dumervil agreed to a restructured deal with the Broncos last week but his agent failed to get the paperwork into the league office before the deadline, leaving the Broncos no choice but to cut Dumervil rather than guaranteeing all $12 million of his salary.
Insight: The release counted as a $5 million hit in dead money on Denver's salary cap, making it impossible for the Broncos to offer Dumervil the same restructured contract. Getting Dumervil is the first real offseason win for the defending Super Bowl champions, who have lost seven starters overall.

Insight: Dumervil agreed to a restructured deal with the Broncos earlier in the week but Magid failed to get the paperwork into the league office before Friday's deadline, leaving the Broncos no choice but to cut Dumervil. That's a pretty inexcusable mistake so it's no wonder Dumervil pulled the plug on his relationship with Magid. Ordinarily when a player fires his agent, he is required to wait five days before hiring a new agent. Instead, Magid waived the five-day waiting period, allowing Dumervil to sign on with Condon immediately. Baltimore and Tennessee appear to be the early front runners to sign Dumervil now that he's a free agent.

Description: Well this is embarassing. The Broncos officially released pass rusher Elvis Dumervil after failing to submit his restructured contract to the league office prior to Friday's deadline.
Insight: Dumervil agreed to cut his salary from $12 million to $8 million Friday and was all set to stay with the Broncos but his release will cost the team nearly $5 million in dead money against the salary cap. He could be moving on to a different franchise after picking up 63 sacks in 91 games for the Broncos.

Description: Negotiations between the Broncos and right end Elvis Dumervil have reached a standstill according to the Denver Post.
Insight: If Denver can't reach a deal with Dumervil before the start of the new league year on Tuesday he'll become one of the most coveted free agents on the market. Dumervill produced 53 tackles and 11 sacks last season. He also forced a career-high six fumbles in 2012.

Insight: Dumervil was a non-participant in practice and it was expected he'd miss week 2, despite the questionable tag. Denver will employ a three-man rotation between Jason Hunter, Robert Ayers and Derrick Harvey making this an IDP situation to avoid.

Insight: The Broncos might have escaped a serious injury, but it doesn't the change the fact their run defense got gashed once again. He'll likely start against the Bengals and Cedric Benson has another decent matchup this week.

Description: As reported in the Denver Post, Elvis Dumervil's Denver County assault and disturbing the peace case is scheduled to be tried April 5.
Insight: The incident occurred in October when Dumervil was not allowed into the stadium after forgetting his identification. We don't expect this to affect his availability for the 2011 season. (

Insight: Dumervil allegedly got into it with a parking attendant outside Invesco Field and was cited for both assault and disturbing the peace. Since it's such a minor incident and Dumervil has no prior off-field issues, we are sure he won't face any punishment.
9/5/2010 12:01:00 AM
Description: Dumervil has finally been placed on injured reserve for the pectoral muscle he tore early in camp.
Insight: The Broncos initially held out hope that he'd be available by December, but this is the better outcome for fantasy owners who can now cut or IR Dumervil without worry. (

Description: There is belief that Broncos LB Elvis Dumervil (pectoral tear) will play this season barring a setback in his rehab. SOURCE: DENVER POST
Insight: The initial diagnosis was for Dumervil to miss the next 4-5 months. But if the team is in a playoff hunt near the end of the season, we could see Dumervil suit up if he is medically cleared.

Description: Broncos OLB Elvis Dumervil will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair his torn pectoral muscle.
Insight: This will almost certainly end his season. Dumervil's injury, hot on the heels of him getting a big contract, once again calls into question why teams should be throwing around such big money contracts with little protection. (
8/5/2010 7:18:00 PM
Description: A source tells the Associated Press that OLB Elvis Dumervil's torn pectoral could sideline him for as many as five months.

Description: "The Broncos and LB Elvis Dumervil have agreed to a six-year deal worth $61.5 million and includes between $41 million and $43 million in guarantees." SOURCE: ESPN.COM
Insight: Dumervil is one of the few players left from the Mike Shanahan era, but he improved greatly under Josh McDaniels, to the tune of 17 sacks in 2009. Unlike other players, Dumervil kept his mouth shut and let his on-field play do the talking for him. He'll make big plays in IDP leagues, but he doesn't rack up that many tackles. Don't overpay.

Description: Coach Josh McDaniels indicated that the Broncos are not close to a long-term deal with unsigned restricted free agent Elvis Dumervil.
Insight: Well, they ought to be. By cooperating and playing the good soldier every step of the way, Dumervil is actually making the team look a bit foolish. (
5/17/2010 5:43:00 PM
Description: Unsigned restricted free agent Elvis Dumervil is participating in the Broncos' current Organized Team Activity.
