Panthers activate Stewart from PUP
Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Carolina Panthers have activated running back Jonathan Stewart off the physically unable to perform list.
Stewart sat out the first seven games while recovering from ankle problems and is set to play Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
"I've been activated it's go time!" Stewart wrote on his Twitter account Saturday.
Stewart suffered an ankle injury last November against Philadelphia and missed the last five games of the season, then underwent surgery in the offseason.
The 26-year-old Oregon product rushed for 336 yards with a touchdown in nine games last year, and has 3,836 yards with 27 touchdowns in five seasons. He was selected by the Panthers with the 13th overall pick of the 2008 draft and had his best season in 2009, rushing for 1,133 yards with 10 scores.
Carolina opened a roster spot by waiving running back Armond Smith.
