Fitzpatrick headed to Tennessee
Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - The Tennessee Titans have moved quickly to find a new backup quarterback, agreeing to terms with former Bills starter Ryan Fitzpatrick on Tuesday.
The Tennessean had reported Tuesday morning that Fitzpatrick had agreed on a two-year contract to take over for Matt Hasselbeck as the primary backup to Jake Locker, with Titans general manager Ruston Webster confirming the deal later in the day. The move will become official once Fitzpatrick passes a physical.
Hasselbeck was released on Monday.
Fitzpatrick was released by the Bills earlier this month after he was unwilling to restructure his contract. He agreed to a six-year, $59 million contract extension in October 2011.
In 16 games for the Bills last season, the 30-year-old Harvard product threw for 3,400 yards with 24 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He has thrown for 14,336 yards with 92 touchdowns and 81 interceptions in 73 NFL games with the Bills, Bengals and Rams.
