Description: Derek Fisher has accepted the Knicks' head coaching job. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: Fisher's contract will pay him $25 million over the next five seasons. Steve Kerr was Phil Jackson's first choice but he agreed to a deal with Golden State earlier this offseason. Fisher played for Oklahoma City this season so this will be his first coaching job in the NBA. At age 39, he's the second-youngest coach in the league behind Brad Stevens.

Description: The NBA has fined Phil Jackson $25,000 for tampering with Thunder point guard Derek Fisher. SOURCE: Marc Stein, ESPN
Insight: Jackson acknowledged the possibility of hiring Fisher in a press conference last week while Fisher was still competing in the Western Conference Finals with Oklahoma City. That's a violation of league policy. Now that the Thunder have been eliminated, Fisher is free to interview for coaching positions. The Knicks and Lakers are among the teams interested in hiring the 18-year veteran.

Description: Thunder guard Derek Fisher suffered a shoulder injury in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Clippers Wednesday night, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.
Insight: OKC coach Scott Brooks said Fisher took a big hit on his shoulder and was uncertain how he was feeling. The 39-year-old has averaged 15.3 minutes, 3.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in the postseason.

Description: Thunder guard Derek Fisher says that next season will be his last in the NBA. SOURCE: ESPN Los Angeles
Insight: He signed a one-year, $1.4 million contract with OKC earlier in the week. Fisher, a 37.3 percent career shooter from three-point range, has won five titles in 17 NBA seasons. All five of those came with the Lakers.
7/6/2013 4:51:00 PM
Description: Ken Berger from CBS Sports is hearing that Derek Fisher might return to the Thunder for another season.
Insight: D-Fish has put together a nice career for himself as a three-point specialist off the bench and we wouldn't be surprised at all if he returns to OKC in that capacity. Even if that happens, we wouldn't expect the soon-to-be 39-year-old to carry any fantasy value next season.
2/25/2013 7:34:00 PM
Description: Veteran point guard Derek Fisher has signed on to play with Oklahoma City for the rest of the season.
Insight: Fisher last surfaced with Dallas, playing in just nine games before asking for his release. Russell Westbrook will still see the majority of the playing time at point guard so we don't envision Fisher having much fantasy success with the Thunder.
12/22/2012 7:00:00 PM
Description: The Mavericks will waive Derek Fisher at his request. SOURCE: Marc Stein, ESPN
Insight: Fisher injured his patellar tendon Tuesday and will return home to be with his family. The team will call up Chris Douglas-Roberts from the D-League to replace Fisher. According to Stein, Douglas-Roberts is widely rated as the top current NBA prospect in the D-League. The Mavericks will continue to explore potential trade options to bolster the point guard position, which doesn't bode well for the fantasy value of Darren Collison.
12/20/2012 12:53:00 PM
Description: Mavericks point guard Derek Fisher will miss at least three games with a knee injury, the team announced. SOURCE: Tim MacMahon,
Insight: Darren Collison will have a chance to move into the starting lineup. Collison is averaging 12.9 ppg and 6.3 apg in 14 starts this season. Fisher will be re-evaluated next week.
12/19/2012 8:35:00 PM
Description: Mavericks point guard Derek Fisher won't be available for Thursday's game against the Heat because of a strained patellar tendon in his right knee.
Insight: With Fisher getting the night off, Darren Collison will have a chance to move into the starting lineup. Collison is averaging 12.9 ppg and 6.3 apg in 14 starts this season.
12/18/2012 9:12:00 PM
Description: After starting despite having the flu, Mavericks point guard Derek Fisher left Tuesday's game with a right knee strain in the first quarter. SOURCE: Mark Followill, Mavericks broadcaster
Insight: Fisher wasn't expected to play due to the illness but ended up starting. He's doubtful to return, giving Darren Collison extra minutes.
12/18/2012 8:11:00 PM
Description: Mavericks point guard Derek Fisher might still try to play despite dealing with the flu. He was believed to be out an hour ago. SOURCE: Bryan Gutierrez,
Insight: Fisher has started all eight games but his averages (9.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.9 apg) make him a low-end fantasy option. If he can't go Tuesday he almost certainly will be back Thursday against Miami. Darren Collison would start in Fisher's absence.
12/18/2012 7:23:00 PM
Description: Mavericks point guard Derek Fisher will miss Tuesday's game against Philadelphia. He's dealing with the flu.
Insight: Fisher has started all eight games but his averages (9.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.9 apg) make him a low-end fantasy option. He should be able to return Thursday night versus Miami.
12/16/2012 11:19:00 AM
Description: Mavericks point guard Derek Fisher scored 20 points Saturday night, his most since joining the team eight games ago.
Insight: Fisher has started all eight games but his averages (9.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.9 apg) make him a low-end fantasy option.
11/29/2012 10:12:00 AM
Description: Former Lakers guard Derek Fisher has agreed to a deal with the Mavericks.
Insight: Head coach Rick Carlisle has already pegged Fisher as the team's starting point guard. That can't be good for Darren Collison's fantasy value moving forward.
11/28/2012 10:13:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Brian Windhorst expects guard Derek Fisher to sign with an NBA team within the next 2-to-3 days.
Insight: We won't be able to fairly evaluate Fisher's fantasy value until we know which team he's headed to. We do know that Fisher averaged 5.6 ppg in 63 games with the Lakers and Thunder last season.
3/21/2012 7:41:00 PM
Description: Derek Fisher is officially a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder and he is expected be in uniform tonight against the Clippers.
Insight: If Fisher does play tonight it won't be for very long. Oklahoma City's backup guards with the exception of James Harden have played sparingly this season. Fisher gives the Thunder good leadership and a nice veteran prescence but none of that will help you in fantasy.
3/21/2012 4:49:00 PM
Description: Derek Fisher and Oklahoma City seem to be putting the finishing touches on a deal that would put Fisher in a Thunder uniform for the rest of the season.
Insight: We knew Fisher wanted to play for a contender so this move shouldn't surprise anybody. Fisher won't clear waivers until 6 pm today, so the deal might not be official until tomorrow. Russell Westbrook will still get most of the minutes at point guard, so going to the Thunder does not help Fisher's fantasy value.
3/19/2012 10:44:00 AM
Description: Derek Fisher and the Rockets have reached a buyout agreement, making Fisher a free agent.
Insight: The Thunder, Bulls, Heat and Spurs could all be in the mix for Fisher's services. Fisher will be the backup wherever he ends up so he probably won't help your fantasy team very much.
3/18/2012 10:56:00 AM
Description: Two days after being traded, Derek Fisher still has not reported to the Rockets.
Insight: Fisher hadn't missed a game since the 2004-05 season before missing Saturday's game against the Clippers. It looks like Fisher and the Rockets are working on a buyout, which would allow Fisher to sign with a contender like the Heat or the Clippers.
3/15/2012 4:33:00 PM
Description: Derek Fisher was shipped to the Rockets Thursday for Houston's Jordan Hill. The Rockets will also acquire Los Angeles' first-round pick as part of the deal.
Insight: After trading for Ramon Sessions, there really wasn't room for Fisher in Los Angeles anymore. Fisher will compete with Goran Dragic for Houston's starting point guard slot while Kyle Lowry is out with a bacterial infection. Fisher and Kobe Bryant were close friends so it will be interesting to see how Bryant responds to losing Fisher.
