Iguodala, Nuggets fight off Warriors
Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Andre Iguodala poured in a season-high 29 points on Friday, as the Denver Nuggets downed the Golden State Warriors, 102-91, at Pepsi Center.
Danilo Gallinari donated 20 points and seven rebounds, while Ty Lawson finished with 18 points and nine assists to help the Nuggets earn their third straight victory.
David Lee recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards and Carl Landry chipped in 19 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Warriors, who had won four of their previous five.
Golden State led 53-47 at the break, but the Nuggets came roaring out of the locker room, scoring the first 15 points of the third quarter to grab a 62-53 advantage just over four minutes into the half.
Iguodala netted nine points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the decisive Denver surge.
The Warriors pulled within three later in the frame after six straight points from Landry, but the Nuggets quickly distanced themselves with a 6-0 sprint.
Denver carried a 78-70 advantage into the final frame before pressing the margin to double digits with the first four points of the fourth.
Golden State countered with the next four points, but the Nuggets ripped off a 9-0 swing, which Iguodala capped with a dunk to make it 91-74 with 7:28 left in the contest.
The Nuggets led by double digits the rest of the way.
A tightly contested first quarter found the Nuggets holding a 23-21 advantage after 12 minutes.
Golden State caught fire in the second, shooting just under 60 percent (14- of-24) from the field to take a six-point advantage into halftime.
The Warriors have lost eight of their last nine in Denver ... Denver forward Kenneth Faried finished with nine points and 11 rebounds ... Denver dominated the paint, outscoring the Warriors, 58-34 ... The game featured 10 lead changes and was tied 10 different times.
