Description: Arizona pitching prospect Tyler Skaggs overcame five walks and held the Marlins to two runs on three hits in 6 2/3 innings Wednesday to pick up a victory in his major league debut.
Insight: Skaggs is the latest prized arm to make his debut for the Diamondbacks this season, following Trevor Bauer and Patrick Corbin. The left-hander went 9-6 with a 2.87 ERA and a 116/37 K/BB in 22 minor league starts this season. It's unknown if he'll stay in the majors, but he's worth a flier in deeper leagues due to his upside.

Description: Now that Arizona's top prospect Trevor Bauer will make his major league debut Thursday, the wait is on for Tyler Skaggs, the Diamondbacks' No. 3 prospect who has a 2.84 ERA in 13 starts with Double-A Mobile this season.
Insight: Daniel Hudson left Tuesday's start with a forearm injury, so Arizona may need a starter. There's no indication that the team would turn to Skaggs, but he may the best option in the organization. Skaggs is 5-4 with 71 strikeouts in 69 2/3 innings this season and is ranked 16th on MLB.com's latest list of the top 100 prospects in baseball.

Description: Diamondbacks pitching prospect Tyler Skaggs allowed two runs on six hits and struck out four over a season-high eight innings for Double-A Mobile on Friday night.
Insight: Skaggs is Arizona's No. 3 prospect and the No. 18 prospect on MLB.com's top 100 list. Unlike fellow Diamondbacks pitching prospect Trevor Bauer, Skaggs has yet to get the call up to Triple-A despite having a 2.65 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings over 10 starts. Perhaps extending him to eight innings on Friday is a sign the team is ready to move him up to the next level. Obviously, Bauer is the Arizona pitching prospect to own at this point, but Skaggs may also have a bright future.

Description: Diamondbacks pitching prospect Tyler Skaggs struck out 12 batters in 6 1/3 innings on Friday at Double-A.
Insight: With Skaggs and Trevor Bauer, the Diamondbacks have a pair of crown jewels in their farm system. Which one gets the call first remains to be seen, but with Daniel Hudson hitting the DL and Josh Collmenter struggling, expect to see Bauer and Skaggs moved up to Triple-A soon to see if they're ready for the big leagues.
