Description: After being waived by the Dodgers, RP George Sherrill could interest the Yankees. SOURCE: NY Post
Insight: The Yankees do need some help in the bullpen, but Sherrill has been awful this season. Since he will not be a closer anywhere, Sherrill's fantasy value is next to nothing.

Description: George Sherrill has been placed on waivers. SOURCE: ED PRICE ON TWITTER
Insight: He has been completely ineffective in L.A. this year. He is left-handed and has had some MLB success so we expect him to find another team.

Description: Sherrill on Thursday was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and will become a middle reliever. The rebuilding Baltimore Orioles receive third baseman Josh Bell and righthander Steve Johnson, both of whom were at Double-A Chattanooga.
Insight: Sherrill, who was having a great year as a closer, saw his value go way down. He's still worth owning in all formats, but it's unlikely he'll collect more than three or four saves the rest of the way. (

Description: Sherrill pitched a perfect ninth inning Sunday to record his 20th save of the season.
Insight: Sherrill, who now has a 2.41 ERA on the season, notched 31 saves in 2008. It looks like he will surpass that total, and continue to blossom into one of the most reliable closers in fantasy. (

Description: Sherrill tossed a scoreless inning in Tuesday's win over the Boston Red Sox to notch his 17th save of the season.
Insight: Sherrill, who allowed one hit and struck out two, lowered his ERA to 1.99 on the season. He has recorded an 0.81 ERA in June. (

Description: Sherrill pitched a scoreless ninth inning of Wednesday's win over the New York Mets to notch his 13th save of the season.
Insight: Sherrill, who lowered his ERA to 2.45, has been tremendous lately, allowing just two earned runs since April 24. (

Description: Sherrill got three outs in the ninth inning for his 10th save of the season on Monday.

Description: Sherrill worked a scoreless ninth inning in Tuesday's win over the Tampa Bay Rays to notch his sixth save of the season.
Insight: Sherrill was in danger of losing his job after blowing two save opportunities in the span of a week, but the lefthander appears to have righted himself after working with pitching coach Rick Kranitz, according to the Associated Press. "George looked a lot more determined the last couple times he's pitched," manager Dave Trembley told the AP. (

Description: Sherrill, who got three outs for his fifth save in seven tries on Thursday.
Insight: After blowing two save opportunities in the span of a week, Sherrill was in danger of losing his job. However, he was able to rebound with a nice outing. Chris Ray isn't the most reliable reliever in the world, so Sherrill's job is safe as long as he performs. (

Description: Sherrill suffered the loss and blew his first save of the season in Friday's 5-4 setback to the Texas Rangers. The burly reliever surrendered two runs and two hits in 1 1/3 innings, raising his ERA to 6.14.
Insight: Sherrill's owners have to be concerned, considering he's yielded runs in three of his last six outings. Luckily for his owners, Chris Ray hasn't pitched much better. However, with a couple more outings like this, Ray may be given a shot at the closer's role again. (

Description: Sherrill pitched a scoreless ninth inning to close out a 10-5 win over the New York Yankees.
Insight: He walked a batter with two out, but still racked up a strikeout to start the inning. It's also a good sign for Sherrill owners that Chris Ray struggled in his first game back from "Tommy John" surgery. For now, Sherrill is the ninth-inning guy. (

Description: According to The Baltimore Sun, Sherrill said he would not protest if manager Dave Trembley had Chris Ray start the season as closer. "[Ray] has looked good this spring," Sherrill told the Sun. "If that's something they want to do, that's fine. All I want to do is win. I don't care what my title is." (
Steady3/27/2009 5:36:00 AM
Description: Though Sherrill is off to a poor start in spring training, he feels like he'll be fine once opening day comes. "My arm feels fine. Everything feels good," he said, offering no explanation for his 6.75 ERA this spring, according to the team's web site. "It's usually bad until the last couple of days and then the mechanics work themselves out. I'll get there, though. I'm not worried about it. I'll just take my licks here and get the bad ones out of the way."
Insight: If he's able to pitch well consistently, he will fend off Chris Ray for saves. (
