Insight: The bigger story will likely be the fact that this was not a perfect game. With two outs in the ninth Scherzer hit Jose Tabata, but Tabata looked like he leaned into the pitch. Nevertheess, Scherzer got Josh Harrison to fly out, cementing the no-hitter. He is 8-5 with a 1.76 ERA.

Insight: Scherzer allowed just one hit, which was a blooper into shallow right field that a diving Anthony Rendon could not grab. That was the first base runner for the Brewers in the game. Scherzer also walked just one batter and struck out 16 in the complete-game shutout. He is 7-5 with a 1.93 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 113 strikeouts in 93 1/3 innings this season.

Insight: The Mets first run came in the sixth. Scherzer should have been out of the frame, but shortstop Ian Desmond committed an error with two outs. Lucas Duda then drove in two on his single. In the seventh, another Desmond error led to a third Mets run. Scherzer pitched 7 2/3 shutout innings with eight strikeouts and two walks, but he earned the loss.

Scherzer finished the night allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk, while striking out six. Detroit's bullpen gave him no help, as they gave up a total of seven runs (six earned) over 2/3 of an inning.

Insight: He baffled Royals' hitters through seven innings, allowing only one run on seven hits and one walk. Scherzer had six strikeouts throughout his dominant performance as well. There is a solid chance he will win his second consecutive CY Young Award.
