Description: Tigers starter Justin Verlander had an MRI last Thursday, which confirmed he is dealing with a right triceps strain according to MLB.com.

Insight: Verlander threw all his pitches during a 45-pitch simulated game, but he described his triceps as feeling "achy". This probably really frustrates Tigers fans and fantasy owners because Verlander's recovery seems to be moving at snails pace. There is no timetable for his return.

Description: Tigers starter Justin Verlander will throw a bullpen session on Sunday according to MLive.com.
Insight: Verlander is projected to tentatively make his 2015 regular season debut on April 12 in Cleveland, so even though he will go on the disabled list, the right-hander is not going to miss a start. Detroit is expected to go with a four-man rotation for the first week. This is the first time in his career that Verlander is on the DL.

Description: Tigers starter Justin Verlander (right triceps) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 28.
Insight: Verlander should only miss one start if all goes well. We still don't like our chances of seeing the "old" Verlander ever again. Last season he was 15-12 with a 4.54 ERA and 1.398 WHIP.

8/30/2014 9:16:00 AM
Description: Tigers starter Justin Verlander allowed one run on nine hits over seven innings in a victory on Friday over the White Sox.
Insight: This is quite promising as Verlander looked like his old self on Friday. The only run he yielded was on an Adam Dunn sacrifice fly in the first inning. Overall, Verlander has still been very disappointing this year (12-11, 4.68 ERA, 1.45 WHIP), but he proved Friday he still has the potential to be dominant in any start.

Insight: It's another very average start in a very average season for Justin Verlander. He is obviously a shell of his old self as his ERA this year (4.76) is over a run higher than his career ERA (3.52).

Description: Detroit starter Justin Verlander labored through another tough outing Monday against the Royals, allowing 12 hits and seven earned runs in six innings.
Insight: He's now 2-5 with a 7.83 ERA over his last seven starts. The former MVP had trouble with his mechanics last season and it looks like he's fallen into a similar trap this season. We'll see if Verlander (6-7, 4.98 ERA) can turn things around next time out against Cleveland.

Cold6/5/2014 4:20:00 PM
Description: Tigers starter Justin Verlander was "outdueled" by J.A. Happ Thursday afternoon.
Insight: Happ didn't throw great, just well enough to beat the slumping Verlander. The Tigers' right-hander hasn't cracked the seven strikeout mark since April 12 and we have seen his ERA jump from 2.08 on April 17 to 4.19 after today's fiasco.

Cold5/25/2014 8:05:00 PM
