Description: Giants manager Bruce Bochey told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area he expects Tim Lincecum to return to the starting rotation next season.
Insight: Lincecum lost his spot in the rotation in August, and barely pitch in the postseason. Bochy, however, said he believes the team will need him as a starter. The 30-year-old made 26 starts and posted a 4.67 ERA in 2014.

Description: Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum picks up win in relief Sunday.
Insight: It was his 12th win, after going two innings. Lincecum is simply not the same pitcher he used to be, as he finishes the year with a 4.74 ERA.

Description: Giants starter Tim Lincecum has been pulled from the rotation, according to Carl Steward of the Bay Area News Group. Yusmeiro Petit will take his spot for now.
Insight: Lincecum went 4-1 with a 0.95 ERA from June 25 to July 22, but he's posted a 9.49 ERA and a 2.27 WHIP since then. Manager Bruce Bochy indicated he hopes Lincecum can regain his spot, but there's no reason for fantasy owners to hold him.

Cold8/23/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Tim Lincecum continues his cold streak as he exits Saturday's game after just two and 2/3 innings pitch, allowing six runs, four earned on six hits and four walks.
Insight: Lincecum is on the hook for the loss as the Giants trail the Nationals, 6-2, in the bottom of the third inning. The former CY Young award winner has won just once since July 12.

Cold8/10/2014 6:02:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Tim Lincecum has given up 20 earned runs on 28 hits in his last 17 innings.
Insight: Hopefully you took our advice and shopped him after he went 4-1 with a 0.95 ERA and 0.71 WHIP from June 25 to July 22. He's now 9-8 with a 4.51 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 126 Ks in 137 2/3 innings, so his trade value is once again minimal.

Cold7/30/2014 9:10:00 PM
Description: San Francisco starter Tim Lincecum allowed 11 runs on 14 hits in his last 7 2/3 innings.
Insight: Lincecum went 4-1 with a 0.95 ERA in 38 innings from June 25 to July 22 to lower his ERA from 4.90 to 3.65, but he's reverted to the inconsistent form of the past three seasons.

Hot7/20/2014 5:14:00 PM
Description: San Francisco starter Tim Lincecum continued his resurgence Sunday at Miami.
Insight: Lincecum allowed three runs on five hits and struck out seven in seven innings. The right-hander has recorded a 0.96 ERA and a 0.70 WHIP in his last five starts to lower his ERA from 4.90 to 3.68.

Hot7/6/2014 10:57:00 AM
Description: San Francisco starter Tim Lincecum is a career 15-6 with a 2.35 ERA and 1.121 WHIP in 28 starts against the San Diego Padres. He's 8-3 on the road in Petco Park.
Insight: Lincecum no hit the Padres on June 25 and threw eight shut out innings last Tuesday against St. Louis, so there is no one hotter than the Giants right-hander. With San Diego struggling at the plate (2.98 rpg, .214 BA) Lincecum should be set for another top quality outing.

Hot7/2/2014 7:06:00 PM
Description: San Francisco starter Tim Lincecum threw eight scoreless innings of four-hit ball Tuesday against St. Louis after tossing a no-hitter his last time out. Lincecum has lowered his ERA from 4.90 to 4.06 in his last two starts and will face the Padres team he's no-hit twice in the past year on Sunday.
Insight: Perhaps Lincecum has finally realized his four-seam fastball is no longer useful. He's thrown it a career-low 31 percent of the time this season and increased his slider usage to a career-high 28.5 percent. Lincecum has actually allowed three runs or less in eight of his last 10 starts, but his June 3 start at Cincinnati (4 1/3, 8 ER) is muddying the results. He's served up just four homers in his last 78 2/3 innings.

6/25/2014 6:30:00 PM
Description: San Francisco starter Tim Lincecum tossed a no-hitter Wednesday against the Padres.
Insight: It's the same team he no-hit last July. Lincecum was much more efficient this time, finishing off the Friars in only 113 pitches. His only blemish was a second inning walk to Chase Headley. Lincecum (6-5, 4.47 ERA) also had a good game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

6/3/2014 10:17:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Tim Lincecum allowed eight runs on six hits with three walks in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday at Cincinnati.
Insight: Lincecum (4-4, 5.01 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) had a no-hitter through five innings in his last start but left with a blister. He still misses bats frequently (64 Ks in 64 2/3 IP) but gets hit extremely hard when he allows contact.

Insight: Lincecum's pitch count was at 96 but the Giants probably would have left him out for another inning if not for the blister. He should be okay for his next start Tuesday against the Reds.

5/28/2014 8:06:00 PM
Description: San Francisco right-hander Tim Lincecum didn't allow a hit in five innings Wednesday against the Cubs.
Insight: He was pulled after 96 pitches. Lincecum walked four and struck out five. After getting off to a slow start, Lincecum has looked much better in his last few outings, going 3-2 with a 2.86 ERA in the month of May.

Cold5/7/2014 3:37:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Tim Lincecum gave up four runs on eight hits in four innings Wednesday afternoon at Pittsburgh.
Insight: Lincecum has been awful this season, plain and simple. He's allowed 50 hits, six homers and 22 earned runs in 35 2/3 innings (5.55 ERA). The right-hander has given up a line drive on 32.5 percent of his batted balls, so it's not surprising his BABIP is .393.

4/16/2014 10:07:00 AM
Description: Giants starter Tim Lincecum has walked just one batter and struck out 17 in 15 innings this season, but he has a 7.20 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP.
Insight: Lincecum might want to think about throwing more pitches out of the strike zone, however, as batters have crushed his offerings in the zone. Lincecum has a 33.3 percent line-drive rate and a 3.00 HR/9 so far, and batters have made contact on 88.2 percent of swings on pitches in the strike zone.

4/2/2014 5:13:00 PM
Description: Giants starter Tim Lincecum could be scratched from Thursday's start due to food poisoning, according to Kate Scott of KNBR 680.
Insight: Lincecum is also recovering from a bruised knee after he was hit by a comebacker last Friday. The 29-year-old went can still miss bats but he also walks a lot of batters and has been hit hard the last two years. He went 20-29 with a 4.76 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, a 383/166 K/BB and a 1.03 HR/9 over 383 2/3 innings in 2012-13.

Description: San Francisco right-hander Tim Lincecum expects to make his scheduled start Thursday versus Arizona. SOURCE: San Francisco Chronicle
Insight: Lincecum was struck in the knee by a line drive on Friday but appears to be okay. Though Lincecum isn't as overpowering as he was early in his career, the 29-year-old still eats plenty of innings (197 2/3 IP last season).

Description: Giants starter Tim Lincecum got drilled by a line drive on Friday night. Luckily, X-rays on his knee came back negative. SOURCE: Andrew Baggarly, Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area
Insight: It's just a bruise. Lincecum is probably a little sore but we wouldn't expect him to miss much time. He's slated to open the year as San Francisco's No. 4 starter behind Madison Bumgarner, Matt Cain and Tim Hudson.
