Description: Padres starter Kip Wells pitched like it was 2003 Sunday against Colorado. Wells shut out the Rockies on six hits and two walks in seven innings to pick up his first win since 2009.
Insight: This was quite a surprise considering the game was played at Coors Field. We don't expect Wells to keep this up, so he can be avoided for now.

Description: The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that Kip Wells will start for the Padres Sunday against the Rockies.
Insight: Kip Wells returned to the major leagues for the first time since 2009 to start for the Padres Tuesday. The right-hander allowed five runs (two earned) on seven hits in five innings and evidently San Diego thought that was worthy of another start. He can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Description: The Washington Times reports that the Nationals signed Wells to a minor league contract on Wednesday.
Insight: Wells appeared in 25 games last season with Colorado and Kansas City, recording a 1-3 record with a 6.21 ERA. He gives the Nationals pitching depth if an injury were to occur. (
