Insight: Liriano was lifted after six innings for a pinch hitter otherwise he probably would have kept pitching. The Pirates have given their pitchers no run support the last two games. Pittsburgh hasn't scored a run in the last 20 innings.

Insight: At least he's not injured. Liriano will be moved back to Wednesday against the Tigers. He pitched well in his first start, but earned a ND after pitching seven innings and yielding two hits.

Insight: The same old story for Liriano. He didn't receive much run support last season, and the Pirates scored just two runs on Monday. That was enough to avoid giving Liriano the loss. He pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on two hits, three walks and seven strikeouts. One of the Reds runs versus Liriano was scored on a balk with the other coming on a solo bomb from Jay Bruce.

Insight: Liriano didn't have a great record (7-10) last season, which could scare some owners, but he had a respectable 3.38 ERA. Get him in a middle round if you can.

Insight: Liriano has the potential to give fantasy owners tremendous value this season. Fantasy owners might not want to touch him since his record was just 7-10 last season, but he did post a respectable 3.38 ERA. All indications are that Liriano even return to his 2013 form where he was 16-8 and a 3.02 ERA.

Insight: It's nice to finally see the Pirates open up the wallets a bit to keep an important player to their cause. Liriano has posted a 3.20 ERA with 338 strikeouts in 323 1/3 innings over two seasons in Pittsburgh. Last season, he was just 7-10 but had a 3.38 ERA in 162 1/3 innings.

Insight: Liriano made just one mistake to Chris Heisey, who hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Liriano keeps running into tough opposing pitchers as Johnny Cueto threw eight innings to earn the victory. Despite the fact Liriano's ERA is nearly a run higher than last season's, he is pitching better than his record (3-10) indicates.
