The slim chance the Phillies had of trading Lee before the Aug. 31 waiver trade deadline probably just went out the window.

Insight: There really wasn't any question with Roy Halladay retired and Cole Hamels injured. Lee went 14-8 with a 2.87 ERA and 1.010 WHIP in 2013. There is no reason he can't pitch just as well in 2014, the real question is whether the Phillies can score enough runs for him to win. Lee lost five game last year while yielding two earned runs or less.
