Insight: Zimmerman then walked Joe Panik to put the tying run on base with Buster Posey coming to the plate. Manager Matt Williams went to his closer Drew Storen, who allowed back-to-back hits as the Giants tied the game 1-1. The Nationals actually threw out Posey at the plate for the third out, otherwise, the Giants would have taken the lead. Zimmerman finished with eight 2/3 innings, one run on three hits, six strikeouts and one walk.

Insight: He pitched a no-hitter in the final start of the regular season, and now there is even greater pressure today. Zimmerman had one start against the Giants in 2014, and it went well. The Nationals will need a similar performance if they do not want to head to San Francisco on the brink of elimination.

Insight: Zimmerman may not be asked to go to far into the game, as Washington has already locked up home-field advantage throughout the National League Playoffs. Yet, it does not take away from the intrigue. Zimmerman is 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over his last three starts. Opposing starter, Miami's Henerson Alvarez comes in on fire as well, going 2-0 with a 1.31 ERA and 1.11 WHIP throughout his past three starts. Expect a low-scoring game.

Description: Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann pitched six strong innings to earn his 13trh victory of 2014.
Insight: He was taken out with only 84 pitches. However, Zimmerman was hit in the shoulder by a line drive in the sixth, and although he stayed in the game, the Nats scored all of their runs in the seventh, causing him to sit for an extended period of time. Zimmerman has been fantastic this season with a 2.78 ERA. Drew Storen shut the door on the Marlins, to seal the win.
