Description: Marlins right-hander Jarred Cosart had a rough seventh inning.
Insight: He was sailing along through six innings, giving up no runs, but could not keep it going when he came out for the seventh. The big blow came on an RBI triple by Asdrubal Cabrera, which tied the game at 2-2. Cosart was then pulled, and Mike Dunn allowed the inherited runner to score.
Hot9/15/2014 1:33:00 PM
Description: Marlins right-hander Jarred Cosart has enjoyed his move to the National League.
Insight: After going 9-7 with a 4.41 ERA for the Astros, Cosart has seemed to find his groove with Miami. Not only is he 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with Marlins, Cosart has actually been even better over his past three starts (2-1, 1.74 ERA and 0.97 WHIP). If he is not in your lineup, get him in there.
Hot8/31/2014 9:08:00 AM
Description: Marlins starter Jarred Cosart went seven inning without yielding a run to lower his ERA to 3.80.
Insight: In case you have not been paying attention, Cosart has pitched well this season for two mediocre clubs (Houston and Miami) and last night earned his 12th win of the season. He's 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA and 1.030 WHIP after the trade to the Marlins.

Description: Marlins starter Jarred Cosart (oblique) has been cleared to start Tuesday against the Cardinals, according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: The Astros traded Cosart to the Marlins on July 31 and Cosart allowed four runs over 5 1/3 innings the next day. He was scratched from his last start with oblique soreness, but he's ready to go Tuesday. He's 9-8 with a 4.51 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP and a 78/55 K/BB in 121 2/3 innings.

Description: Jarred Cosart, Enrique Hernandez and Austin Wates have been traded from the Astros to the Marlins for Jake Marisnick, Colin Moran, Frances Martes and a 2015 compensation pick.
Insight: The 24-year-old Cosart is the only player in this trade that fantasy owners need to worry about this season, and he's 9-7 with a 4.41 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP and 75 Ks in 116 1/3 innings. In other words, he's really not someone fantasy owners need to own.
Hot6/20/2014 10:18:00 PM
Description: Houston starter Jarred Cosart struck out just two batters Friday against the Rays, but he threw eight scoreless innings to pick up his seventh win of the year.
Insight: Cosart (3.78 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) had a 7.36 ERA in his first four starts, but he's allowed three runs or less in 11 straight starts. He's a solid NL-only arm.
6/14/2014 8:27:00 PM
Description: Houston starter Jarred Cosart has allowed three runs or less in each of his last 10 starts.
Insight: Cosart still has a 4.16 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP because he started out with a 7.36 ERA in his first four starts. The right-hander has a 4.00 FIP and probably isn't going to be much better than his current statistics.
5/5/2014 10:11:00 PM
Description: Houston starter Jarred Cosart allowed just one unearned run Monday in a loss to Detroit.
Insight: Cosart (7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 3 K's) had the bad fortune of going up against last year's Cy Young winner Max Scherzer (8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 9 K's). Despite the loss, Cosart (1-3) was able to lower his ERA from 5.52 to a much more respectable 4.50. He's scheduled to throw again Saturday versus Baltimore.

Description: Astros rookie Jarred Cosart will be shut down for the remainder of the season, according to Astros beat writer Brian McTaggart.
Insight: Cosart has 35 walks and 33 strikeouts over 60 major league innings, but his ERA is just 1.95 and he gave up more than three runs in a game just once in 10 starts. If he can cut down on his walk total he'll start next season near the top of the Houston rotation.
8/29/2013 10:32:00 AM
Description: Astros rookie Jarred Cosart continues to flirt with disaster without actually experiencing it. He walked five batters and gave up seven hits in six innings Wednesday at Chicago but only allowed one run.
Insight: Cosart has 26 walks and 25 strikeouts over 51 innings, but his ERA is just 1.59. That success won't last unless he cuts down on the free passes.

Description: Astros rookie Jarred Cosart has a 1.15 ERA through his first six major league starts, but he he's just 1-0.

7/28/2013 7:31:00 PM
Description: Astros starter Jarred Cosart walked five batters in six innings Sunday at Toronto, but he also allowed just one earned run and four hits.
Insight: In three major league starts, the 23-year-old has posted a 0.86 ERA in 21 innings, but he does have a bit of a control problem. He walked 4.84 batters per nine with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season and has issued 11 free passes since getting the callup to Houston.
7/12/2013 10:15:00 PM
Description: Astros starter Jarred Cosart enjoyed a spectacular debut Friday against the Rays.
Insight: The 23-year-old lost his no-hit bid in the seventh inning. He finished the evening with two strikeouts and three walks in eight shutout frames. Outdueling a Cy Young winner (David Price) in your major league debut is pretty impressive. The Astros were planning to send Cosart back down to Triple-A after the game but now they might want to keep him in Houston and see what he can do.
5/21/2013 12:15:00 PM
Description: Houston Astros 22-year-old minor league prospect Jarred Cosart is pitching well at Triple-A Oklahoma City, with a 4-1 record, 2.49 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 47 strikeouts in 43 1/3 IP.
Insight: Considering the shape of the Astros' pitching staff and their major league worst 5.91 runs-per-game allowed, we know there is a spot for him in the rotation. It's just a matter of when.
