Description: Braves starter Brandon Beachy (elbow) will head to Los Angeles for further evaluation, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Insight: Beachy began experiencing tightness in his right elbow and biceps earlier this month and visited with Dr. James Andrews Monday. He'll seek another opinion from Dr. Neal Elattrache. The right-hander may have to undergo his second Tommy John surgery since June 2012.

Description: Braves starter Brandon Beachy may need Tommy John surgery, according to Mark Bowman of mlb.com.

Description: Atlanta righthander Brandon Beachy is dealing with elbow soreness and inflammation.
Insight: Beachy missed most of the 2012 season with elbow issues. Coming on top of the news that Kris Medlen is also dealing with elbow problems leaves the Braves starting staff very thin.

Description: Atlanta righthander Brandon Beachy expects to be ready for Spring Training in February. SOURCE: David O'Brien, Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Insight: Beachy missed most of the 2012 season with elbow issues. Though fragile, Beachy owns a 3.23 lifetime ERA and could be a productive fantasy contributor if his arm holds up.

Description: Braves pitcher Brandon Beachy (elbow) said his elbow is still giving him discomfort. SOURCE: David O'Brien, Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Insight: Beachy played catch earlier this week after being shut down for 10 days, but said he's not where he wants to be. The right-hander has had multiple setbacks after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2012 and likely won't pitch again until 2014.

8/27/2013 5:53:00 PM
Description: Braves pitcher Brandon Beachy will be shut down for 10 days before visiting with Dr. James Andrews to check on his surgically repaired elbow.
Insight: Beachy was placed on the disabled list last week with right elbow inflammation. He returned from Tommy John surgery rehab on July 29 and made five starts, going 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA. With Beachy and Tim Hudson on the disabled list indefinitely, Alex Wood will remain in the rotation.

8/23/2013 7:15:00 PM
Description: Atlanta righthander Brandon Beachy has been moved to the disabled list.
Insight: Beachy has been struggling with right elbow inflammation. The move was backdated to August 21st, which would allow Beachy to return as early as September 5th, though that's unlikely.

Description: Braves starter Brandon Beachy won't pitch Sunday against the Cardinals. SOURCE: David O'Brien, Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Insight: Beachy is feeling renewed discomfort in his surgically repaired right elbow and is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews on Monday. Mike Minor (12-5, 3.06 ERA) will start Sunday in Beachy's place.

8/15/2013 9:30:00 AM
Description: Atlanta pitcher Brandon Beachy has thrown three straight quality starts.
Insight: Beachy is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP over his last two turns after tossing six innings of two-run ball Wednesday against the Phillies. After four starts since returning from his Tommy John surgery rehab, Beachy has a 4.50 ERA but only because he allowed seven runs over 3 2/3 innings in his first start. He should be owned in all leagues.

8/9/2013 10:23:00 PM
Description: Atlanta starter Brandon Beachy fired eight shutout innings Friday to extend the Braves' winning streak to 14.
Insight: Beachy's first two outings of the season weren't very impressive but this one sure was. If the Braves had needed him to, Beachy probably could have pitched another inning as his pitch count was only at 99 when he left the game. Beachy will look to build on this outing next week against the Phillies.

Description: In his first start since June 16, 2012, Braves righty Brandon Beachy allowed seven earned runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings Monday against the Rockies.
Insight: Beachy spent 13 months rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. He had a 2.00 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP in 81 innings at the time of his injury after posting a 3.68 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP and a 10.7 K/9 in 141 2/3 innings the year before.

Description: Brandon Beachy will indeed make his season debut Monday against the Rockies. SOURCE: David O'Brien, Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Insight: It's been 13 months since Beachy last pitched in the big leagues, which is about normal for pitchers who have undergone Tommy John surgery. Before his surgery last year, Beachy was 5-5 with a 2.00 ERA in 13 starts.

Description: The Braves are hoping Brandon Beachy will be able to rejoin the starting rotation Monday versus Colorado. SOURCE: Braves.com
Insight: He's been rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and it looks like he's finally back to 100 percent. The plan was for Kris Medlen to lose his spot in the rotation when Beachy returned but now that Tim Hudson is likely out for the year, there should be room in the rotation for both of them.

7/7/2013 10:15:00 PM
Description: Braves righty Brandon Beachy (elbow) will resume his rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
Insight: Beachy threw a 50-pitch bullpen session Saturday without any problems with his elbow. His return from Tommy John surgery was delayed by inflammation back in mid-June.

7/3/2013 9:45:00 PM
Description: Braves righty Brandon Beachy (elbow) threw an extended bullpen session for roughly 10 minutes Wednesday afternoon, according to MLB.com.
Insight: It was longer than the two side sessions Beachy threw over the weekend. "It went well, I felt good," Beachy said. "The plan right now is to see how I feel tomorrow." Beachy is dealing with inflammation in his surgically repaired elbow, which is why his rehab assignment has been on hold since mid-June.

6/30/2013 9:28:00 AM
Description: Braves righty Brandon Beachy (elbow) threw a bullpen session Saturday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. It was his first session since his setback with elbow inflammation two weeks ago.
Insight: Beachy had some fluid buildup in his elbow near the expected end of his rehab assignment earlier this month, but that has subsided. "I couldn’t extend my arm, but that’s gone," Beachy said. "That feels good. I threw normally without that restriction. Felt good." The Braves will wait to see how Beachy responds to the light bullpen session before deciding on a course of action. If he's OK, he'll need a couple more bullpen sessions before resuming his rehab assignment.

6/25/2013 9:51:00 PM
Description: Braves righty Brandon Beachy (elbow) played catch Tuesday for the second time in three days and could be ready to throw a bullpen session by the end of the week, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (ajc.com).
Insight: Beachy was set to return two weeks ago, but he developed inflammation in his surgically repaired elbow in what was supposed to be his final rehab start. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Beachy would need at least one rehab start after his bullpen sessions, and probably more. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect him back until after the All-Star break.

6/15/2013 9:18:00 PM
Description: Braves righty Brandon Beachy's MRI revealed no structural damage in his right elbow, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Insight: Beachy was supposed to start Tuesday against the Mets for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last June, but he was scratched due to elbow tenderness. The Braves can afford to be careful with Beachy with Kris Medlen and Julio Teheran pitching well.

Description: Braves righty Brandon Beachy won't make his season debut Tuesday as originally planned. SOURCE: Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Insight: Beachy is being held out because of "elbow tenderness." It's only a minor setback and he should be ready to return later in the month. Beachy hasn't pitched in the big leagues since June of 2012.
