Scottsdale, AZ (Sports Network) - Alex Gordon belted a grand slam, James Shields tossed three scoreless innings and the Kansas City Royals topped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 8-1, in Cactus League action.

Gordon went 3-for-4 and scored on a triple by Alcides Escobar, while Shields scattered three hits and struck out two.

Arizona starter Trevor Cahill gave up a run on six hits and two walks in 2 2/3 innings.
