American League Game Summary - Baltimore at Toronto

(Wednesday, September 5th)

Final Score: Toronto 6, Baltimore 4

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Rajai Davis hit a solo home run and drove in three on Wednesday and the Toronto Blue Jays avoided a three-game sweep with a 6-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

The Blue Jays, who were shut out in the first two games of the series, took a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning when Adeiny Hechavarria plated Yunel Escobar with a bunt single off Miguel Gonzalez (6-4).

Davis added a two-run single later in the frame to help Toronto halt a four- game slide.

Brandon Morrow gave up two runs on three hits, including a solo homer to Adam Jones, over a six-inning start and Steve Delabar (4-1) tossed a 1-2-3 seventh to pick up the win.

"He was searching for his rhythm early on," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said of Morrow. "Never really seemed to get a feel for the curveball that has become a big pitch for him. Still, six solid innings."

Casey Janssen allowed Mark Reynolds' ninth-inning, two-run homer before striking out Omar Quintanilla to end the game.

Gonzalez, who was relieved after Hechavarria's go-ahead bunt, was charged with five runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings.

"I was ready but (the hits) were well-placed," said Gonzalez. "It was tough. Things didn't go our way."

Jones opened the scoring with a leadoff homer in the second inning and Manny Machado had a bases-loaded RBI groundout later in the frame, but the Orioles eventually saw their three-game win streak come to an end.

They sit one game behind the AL East-leading Yankees, who defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.

The Blue Jays scored their first run of the series in the second when Adam Lind led off with a single and scored on Kelly Johnson's double, which reached the wall in right-center field.

Davis tied the game an inning later with his seventh homer of the season.

Escobar began the seventh with a double, advanced to third on Johnson's bunt single and scored when Hechavarria dropped a base hit in front of home plate.

Anthony Gose followed with a single off Luis Ayala and scored on a throwing error by Jones after Davis' base hit to center.

Baltimore placed runners on first and second with one out in the eighth before pinch-hitter Lew Ford grounded into a double play.
