Nats avoid arbitration with Clippard
Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals agreed to terms with pitcher Tyler Clippard on Monday, avoiding arbitration with the former All-Star.
The deal is worth $5.875 million over one season, according to CBSSports.com
Clippard finished with a 6-3 record last season in 72 relief appearances for the Nationals. He had a 2.41 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with a team-best 33 holds.
In seven seasons with the Yankees and Nationals, Clippard has compiled a 30-21 record with a 3.00 ERA and 33 saves. He represented the National League in the 2011 All-Star Game.
