National League Game Capsules(Wednesday, April 23rd)
Final Score: Atlanta 3, Miami 1
Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Evan Gattis' pinch-hit, two-run double in the eighth inning lifted the Atlanta Braves over the Miami Marlins 3-1 on Wednesday. Gattis, hitting for center fielder Jordan Schafer, lined a 1-1 offering from reliever A.J. Ramos down the left field line to score Ramiro Pena and Dan Uggla with the go-ahead runs and help the Braves take two of three from the Marlins. It was Gattis' second game-winning hit in the series. Jason Heyward finished with two of the seven hits for the Braves, who won four of their last six overall. Christian Yelich extended his hitting streak to 17 games with an eighth-inning bunt single, as the Marlins failed to follow-up a three-game sweep of the Mariners over the weekend with another series win. Atlanta starting pitcher Aaron Harang pitched into the seventh inning, allowing one run on six hits. He struck out a season-high 11 and walked just one as his ERA increased to 0.85 for the season.
