| NOTES | | | The 67-player field at the WGC - Cadillac Championship includes 48 of the
top-50 ranked players in the world, as well as 58 of the top 65. There are
just four players ranked outside the top 100 in the world competing at Doral
this week. Also teeing it up will be eight of the nine PGA Tour winners from
this season, along with every winner of this event since 2002. Of course,
that includes just four players since Tiger Woods won five of his six titles
at this tournament in that span. Last year`s champion, Ernie Els, cruised to
a four-shot win over Charl Schwartzel. Els fired a six-under 66 in the second
round and again in the final round to finish at minus-18. It was his 17th PGA
Tour victory and second win at this championship. Woods has owned this event
winning the title five of six years from 2002-07. When Els won in `04, that
was only year Woods didn`t win in that span. Woods owns the 36-, 54- and
72-hole scoring records, which he set at The Grove in Hertfordshire, England.
That year, Woods was 15-under after two rounds, then closed with back-to-back
67s to coast to an eight-stroke win over Ian Poulter and Adam Scott. Golf
Channel has four hours of action starting at 2 p.m. (et) on Thursday and
Friday before NBC takes over with four hours of coverage on the weekend,
starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The European Tour
heads to Italy next week for a new event, the Sicilian Open Golf, while the
PGA Tour remains in Florida for the Transitions Championship, where Jim Furyk
held off K.J. Choi for the title last year.
