Barden has carved a niche as one of the most dependable receivers in FCS during
a stellar career at Cal Poly. In his first three seasons, the tall, fast and
athletic pass-catcher grabbed 35 balls for 2,946 yards (21.2 average per catch)
and 32 touchdowns. Barden was a Payton Award candidate in 2007 and finished
15th in the balloting after leading the nation in yards per catch (25.8) and
tying for the lead in touchdown receptions (18). Barden made an immediate
impact as a freshman receiver, catching 40 passes for 655 yards and nine TDs as
Cal Poly advanced to the FCS quarterfinals. He followed that up by grabbing 42
catches for 824 yards and five TDs as a sophomore, despite being slowed by
injuries. Barden was even better last year as a junior, catching 57 balls for
1,467 yards.
