Norfolk State, ODU extend series

Norfolk, VA (Sports Network) - Norfolk State and Old Dominion announced jointly on Monday that they have extended their football series with four new games.

The two universities are located four miles apart.

Norfolk State, from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, and ODU, from CAA Football, will meet for the first time on Sept. 14, 2013 at Norfolk State, followed by a return game at ODU on Sept. 13, 2014.

The contract extension adds additional games to the series on Sept. 12, 2015 and Sept. 9, 2017 at Norfolk State, and Sept. 10, 2016 and Sept. 8, 2018 at ODU.

"We are excited as a football program to extend our two-year series with Norfolk State to six years," ODU head coach Bobby Wilder said. "We have great respect for their program and the job they have done."

"This is great for both universities and the city of Norfolk," Norfolk State head coach Pete Adrian said. "It should be a fun, friendly, but heated rivalry that everyone involved will anticipate each year."
